Closes: 19/07/2019, 10:33
A 5k off road, looped event with a 6 hour time limit. (8am - 2pm). The route goes out along the banks of the River Stour and loops back across the fields & woods - via The Cherry Aid Station, then along the bidleway to rejoin the river path before going round the back of Kingfisher Barn to complete the loop. Its a flat course. Route will be fully marked with marshals where needed. Aid station at the 5k loop point and a very special “Cherry Aid Station” and cheering point in the field by Cherry Tree Nurseries half way round the course. Toilets are available at Kingfisher Barn and at Cherry Tree Nurseries. There will also be an "I'm thinking of you" tree where runners may chose to tie a ribbon, with or without a message, to focus everyones attention on all people suffering with any mental health condition, temporary or otherwise, as they run past. These will be collected after the event and given to Cherry Tree - no one with a mental health condition should ever feel alone.
Baggage tent (not manned), and any gazebos I can blag for changing wil be erected in the "Princess Precinct" - there may be massage (tbc) who knows - I'm still at the" blag all I can" stage! But - guys - I wont let you down - this will be a fun, fun, event. I've even supplied a lovely clean river to cool off in afterwards! Tables on the riverbank bring a picnic/partner/child!
Two start times: 8am for ultra and marathon distance runners and 10am for half marathon, 10k and 5k runners. Note: Charry Aid Station will not be open until after the 10am start. Warm up sessions for the starts - presenters to be announced!!
Eco friendly vegan medal (yes - really!!) and goody bag (non vegan) to all runners. Grand raffle draw after the event around 3pm. (Tickets available on the day or through "naomi's cherry tree nursery fund raising page" on Facebook via Virgin Just Giving link). Kingfisher Cafe open for drinks, cakes & ice ceam!!!
There are currently 2 breeding pairs of Kingfishers on the stretch of river you will run along, the best time to see these wonderful birds is - July!!! (According to RSPB). One of the males is a bit of a local celebrity and everyone has called him "Kevin". - hes stunning! Also resident along the river are the otters, currently with 4 babies, the Egret, a couple of pairs of swans (and families by summer), quite a few Moor Hens, the Heron and no doubt lots more I've not mentioned. A perfect place for a run!! Enjoy!
All entry fees (after unavoidable costs - which I will endeavour to get sponsors for) will go to Cherry Tree Nursery. (registered charity no 900325) A Sheltered Work Opportunities Project for adults with severe and enduring mental illnesses.
Keep up to date with this event, enter the raffle (great prizes, lots of race entries!!) and make a donation if you want to. Please "like" my fb page "naomi's cherry tree nursery fund raising page" to keep updated.
Thank you so much for entering, your entry fee will make a difference. Love & Hugs - Naomi (AKA "Princess"). xx
